VFW leaders converge on Washington this week for the 2013 VFW Fall Legislative Conference. Armed with the VFW’s “Finish Strong For Veterans” on-pager and the VFW Legislative Priority Goals for 2013, more than 70 VFW advocates will be out in force on Capitol Hill this week, planning to visit with every Congressional office pushing for five specific issues that must be resolved before the first session of the 113th Congress comes to an end.
In an effort to bring you up-to-the-minute highlights of this week's meetings, our advocates will be uploading photos and comments on Twitter via the hashtag #VFWHill, which you can follow here:

These five issues VFW needs Congress to resolve are:
- Find a workable solution to budget sequestration
- Protect victims of sexual assault in the military
- Offer in-state tuition to GI Bill-eligible veterans at public colleges
- Keep faith with TRICARE Prime retirees
- Pass advance appropriations for all VA programs
VFW advocates will also explain in detail the VFW’s stance on a variety of veterans’ issues like VA benefits access, military quality-of-life programs, economic opportunity, and health care. Check back regularly for updates.
